A year since its passage, San Antonio's updated Smoking ordinance will go into effect on August 19th, 2011, making our city a healthier place to live, work and visit. Smoking will be banned in most indoor public spaces and selected outdoor venues.

2010 GASO Art Contest

Metro Health and Tobacco Prevention & Control Program organized an art contest and award ceremony for public and private school students in grades 1st-12th to observe the Great American Smokeout in November and to promote prevention of tobacco use.

On Tuesday, June 22, 2010, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) began implementation of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, which gives the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the authority to effectively regulate the manufacturing, marketing, and sales of tobacco products. The implementation dates marks the one year anniversary of the enactment of this historic public health legislation.
