San Antonio Is Smoke Free on 08/19/2011

A year since its passage, San Antonio's updated Smoking ordinance will go into effect on August 19th, 2011, making our city a healthier place to live, work and visit. Smoking will be banned in most indoor public spaces and selected outdoor venues.

Did you know?

As of August 19th, the following San Antonio areas will be newly smoke free:

Indoor/Enclosed Spaces:

  • Bars
  • Billiards halls
  • Bingo facilities
  • Comedy clubs
  • Gaming facilities
  • Restaurants, except outdoor seating areas designated as smoking sections
  • Places of employment

Outdoor Spaces:

  • San Antonio Zoo facilities and grounds
  • All outdoor sports arenas, stadiums, and amphitheaters
  • All pavilions and playgrounds in city-owned parks
  • Within 20 feet of all outdoor public transportation stations, platforms, and shelters under city authority
